Meet the Founder & Director

The Institute of Holistic Phyto-Aromatherapy was founded by Anna Doxie, a Clinical Registered Aromatherapist (RA), Natural Cosmetic Formulator and Holistic Health Practitioner. Anna's introduction to holistic health was during her childhood. She grew up in a household where her mother chose methods such as herbalism and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as the first line of defense to keep her family healthy.

Anna was first introduced, to essential oils and aromatherapy 19 years ago, when she became a Licensed Massage Therapist. (LMT) Anna as well as her clients were able to experience the immediate therapeutic effects of aromatherapy, making a lasting impression.

About Anna Doxie

She then began using essential oils to create simple blends to keep her family of six children healthy and well. Anna was no longer satisfied with basic knowledge about essential oils. She wanted to know exactly how and why these remedies worked so effectively.

Anna's fascination and deep appreciation for essential oils quickly evolved into a passion. This inspired her to obtain her professional certification in the therapeutic use of essential oils. After completing her professional Aromatherapy Certification Program (ACP), Anna continued to complete the Advanced Mastery Program (AMP), which focused in depth, on the chemistry of essential oils. She then sat for the Aromatherapy Registration Council (ARC) exam, becoming a Registered Aromatherapist. To expand her aromatic knowledge, she studied clinical aromatherapy, in Provence, France, with Rhiannon Lewis of Essential Oil Research. Anna has also attended the Circle H Institute, with Ann Harman to learn the art of alchemy and the distillation of aromatic plants. Continuing on with the art of perfumery with Jeanne Rose, the Grand Dame of Aromatherapy and Anya Mc Coy, at the National Perfumery Institute. In her quest to never stop learning, Anna studied advanced chemistry and clinical applications by attending Aromatic Medicine with Mark Webb from Australia and Gabriel Mojay from the UK, through the Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine & Aromatherapy.

Currently, Anna teaches "Therapeutic Principles of Aromatherapy" for the Poway Unified School District, Adult Career & Technical Education Department. The number one School District in San Diego County. She served on the Board of Directors for NAHA as Director Coordinator and Director of the Southern California Region (National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy), for 4 years. Anna's passion for sharing quality aromatherapy education, as well as her desire to create an accessible, mentor-based aromatherapy education, led to the founding of the Institute of Holistic Phyto-Aromatherapy.
